MODULES Interchangeable tools on one autonomous platform

Three interchangeable modules.

BOT PLANNER L5 is built around a modular architecture: one autonomous platform supports three primary drywall finishing tools— spraying, skimming, and sanding. Each module is designed to swap on the same platform interface to reduce downtime and expand capability without changing the robot base.

Spray Airless mud spraying
Skim Blade finishing
Sand Dust-managed sanding
Swap Same platform interface
Modular payload bay
Modular concept: one platform, multiple tools. Quick mechanical + electrical interface (target).

Modular Architecture

Designed to minimize changeover time and standardize mounts, power delivery, and I/O mapping across tools.

Standard Interface (target)

  • Mechanical: repeatable mount references and quick-access fasteners
  • Electrical: standardized power rail + protected distribution
  • Signals: consistent I/O mapping for sensors and tool control
  • Final swap procedure time will be validated during prototype testing.

Why it matters

  • Higher utilization: same robot base stays productive across tasks
  • Lower cost: one platform supports multiple functions
  • Faster iteration: modules evolve independently without redesigning the base
  • Cleaner workflow: spray → skim → sand with consistent autonomy stack

Interchangeable Modules

Each module is designed around a consistent platform interface and a defined job-site workflow.

Spraying module rendering

Spraying Module

SPRAY

Airless mud spraying integration designed for heavy materials and job-site throughput.

  • Supports multiple sprayer configurations (SL / PRO / PRO-XL)
  • Battery operated with inverter strategy (target)
  • Goal: consistent coverage + reduced operator strain
Skimming module rendering

Skimming Module

SKIM

Blade-based skimming designed for Level 5 finishing workflow with repeatable passes.

  • Blade finishing with controlled contact strategy (target)
  • Pass planning: straight passes + corner handling (target)
  • Goal: consistency, flatness, and reduced rework
Sanding module rendering

Sanding Module

SAND

Dust-managed sanding with vacuum integration for clean job-site operation.

  • Dust control: vacuum + extraction integration
  • Workflow: smoothing passes + detail edges (target)
  • Goal: finish quality with minimized airborne dust

Productivity Targets

Prototype goal ranges. Final values will be validated using measured duty cycle, idle time, and job-site constraints.

Module Target Output Primary Drivers
Spraying 6,000 – 12,000 sqft/day Tip size, viscosity, hose routing, refill time, trigger duty.
Skimming 2,000 – 4,500 sqft/day Blade width, pass strategy, correction passes, corner handling.
Sanding 3,000 – 6,000 sqft/day Dust extraction, surface variation, obstacle density, repositioning frequency.
